Office Hours is a blog series from Dragon Innovation's CEO, Scott Miller, where he talks about travel, hardware, legos--because who doesn't love legos--and everything in-between.
Several times a month, I travel from Boston to New York City on the train. It's always a journey I look forward to with great anticipation. For the meetings that lay ahead, the opportunity to put my head down and catch up on email, and the uninterrupted time to think at a higher level.
As I'm standing alongside the track waiting for my train to arrive, I always look across to the opposite returning track and platform. I wonder what will have changed when I step off the train on the other side of the tracks in 12 hours. How will I feel. How will our company be impacted by today? Will we have met a new customer, had a successful Board of Directors meeting, or found a new challenge or opportunity?
In a sense, it's like looking forward in time. I've taken to using this narrow window in time before the train arrives as an opportunity to practice definite optimism and figure out how I want to feel disembarking and what I need to do in the next 12 hours to make it happen.
