I had significant neck surgery last fall to fix compression on my spinal cord. Part of my symptoms were reduced manual dexterity (this became painfully clear when trying to snell a fishing hook it would end up in my thumb). Now that the spinal issue is completely fixed, building things is a great opportunity to retrain my nerves. This is part of the reason I took up straight blade shaving - always good to have skin in the game.
As a personal goal, I try to build something every weekend with my family. This weekend, my son and I made a silver ring for my wife. It is incredibly satisfying to start with unfinished material (a rough coil of silver in this case) and then transform it into a finished product. I love understanding the full process and being able to share the experience with my son.
